This map features daily sea surface temperature from 2008 to present in degrees Celsius (⁰C) at 25 km resolution. Sea Surface Temperature is a key climate and weather measurement used for weather prediction, ocean forecasts, tropical cyclone forecasts, and in coastal applications such as fisheries, pollution monitoring and tourism. El Niño and La Niña are two examples of climate events which are forecast through the use of sea surface temperature maps.
The Naval Oceanographic Office sea surface temperature dataset is calculated from satellite-based microwave and infrared imagery. These data are optimally interpolated to provide a daily, global map of the midday (12:00 pm) sea surface temperature.

El siguiente Story Map Journal busca mostrar la probabilidad\r\nde incendios forestales por el efecto de la sequía que se dio en Puerto Rico\r\ndurante el 2015. Para esto también se buscó las probabilidades de incendio durante el año 2014 específicamente en los\r\nmeses de julio y agosto. El proyecto busca compartir a través de una mirada\r\ngeográfica los efectos secundario de unas sequia específicamente los incendios\r\nforestales que son muy comunes en Puerto Rico.
Se utiliza la herramienta de Weighted Overlay para crear los diferentes\r\nraster. Se utilizaron cuatro capas, una capa de vegetación provista por GM\r\ncorp., Se usaron datos de la NOAA para crear una interpolación para crear la\r\ncapa de lluvia y se crearon las capas de elevación y pendiente.

El\nsiguiente Story Map Journal presenta\nel estudio llevado a cabo por el alemán Alfred Wegener basado en uno de los\nlibros más controversiales de la historia de las ciencias: El Origen de los Continentes y Océanos. Su teoría de La Deriva Continental\nestá sustentada por una variedad de evidencias que explican cómo los continentes\nestuvieron unidos en una sola masa continental llamada Pangea. Se integra,\nademás, la teoría de la Tectónica de Placas como complemento a la teoría de\nWegener. Por medio de herramientas como mapas\ninteractivos, videos, imágenes, y juegos, se pretende que el usuario logre comprender y familiarizarse\ncon las dinámicas y movimientos de las grandes masas continentales del planeta\nTierra de una manera divertida y educativa.
El siguiente Story Map Journal presenta el estudio y análisis de la migración puertorriqueña a los Estados Unidos de 1940-2010. El proyecto fue creado para propósitos pedagógicos, por ende busca enseñar de manera digital e interactiva la migración y como está se relaciona con la identidad cultural puertorriqueña, ver la historia con los detalles migratorios, ayudara a comprender la formación de varias culturas puertorriqueñas. Para esto se tuvo en consideración los Estándares de Contenido y Expectativas de Grado en Puerto Rico del Programa de Estudios Sociales, para estudiantes de Quinto Grado, estándar #4 "Identidad Cultural".
El Story Map Journal contiene mapas poblaciones que comparan la cantidad de puertorriqueños por década en Puerto Rico y Estados Unidos, mapas de las diferentes olas migratorias por década, imágenes representativas de cada década, noticias del periódico El Mundo (hasta 1980), noticias del periódico El Nuevo Día (desde 1990) y datos históricos que ayudan a entender mejor las razones principales de las migraciones de cada década. Por otra parte, para generar el siguiente proyecto se utilizaron diversas fuentes de información, entre ellas algunos textos, bases de datos, imágenes y vídeos los cuales posibilitaron la creación de este Story Map Journal. En el caso de los mapas y gráficas aquí publicados, se utilizaron principalmente los datos poblacionales del Instituto de Estadísticas de Puerto Rico y del United States Census Bureau.

What can I do with this layer?
This layer represents the most frequently updated and most detailed global remotely sensed wildfire information. Detection attributes include time, location, and intensity. It can be used to track the location of fires from the recent past, a few hours up to seven days behind real time. This layer also shows the location of wildfire over the past 7 days as a time-enabled service so that the progress of fires over that timeframe can be reproduced as an animation.
The VIIRS thermal activity layer can be used to visualize and assess wildfires worldwide. However, it should be noted that this dataset contains many “false positives” (e.g., oil/natural gas wells or volcanoes) since the satellite will detect any large thermal signal.
Fire points in this service are generally available within 3 1/4 hours after detection by a VIIRS device. LANCE estimates availability at around 3 hours after detection, and esri livefeeds check for updates every 20 minutes from LANCE.
Even though these data display as point features, each point in fact represents a pixel that is >= 375 m high and wide. A point feature means somewhere in this pixel at least one \"hot\" spot was detected which may be a fire.
VIIRS is a scanning radiometer device aboard the Suomi NPP, NOAA-20, and NOAA-21 satellites that collects imagery and radiometric measurements of the land, atmosphere, cryosphere, and oceans in several visible and infrared bands. The VIIRS Thermal Hotspots and Fire Activity layer is a livefeed from a subset of the overall VIIRS imagery, in particular from NASA's VNP14IMG_NRT active fire detection product. The source downloads are monitored automatically and retrieved from LANCE, NASA's near real time data and imagery site, every 20 minutes when updates detected.
The 375-m data complements the 1-km Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) Thermal Hotspots and Fire Activity layer; they both show good agreement in hotspot detection but the improved spatial resolution of the 375 m data provides a greater response over fires of relatively small areas and provides improved mapping of large fire perimeters.

This work is licensed under the Esri Master License Agreement.Click anywhere on earth to see how the water balance is changing over time. This app is based on data from GLDAS version 2.1, which uses weather observations like temperature, humidity, and rainfall to run the Noah land surface model. This model estimates how much of the rain becomes runoff, how much evaporates, and how much infiltrates into the soil. These output variables, calculated every three hours, are aggregated into monthly averages, giving us a record of the hydrologic cycle going all the way back to January 2000.
Because the model is run with 0.25 degree spatial resolution (~30 km), these data should only be used for regional analysis. A specific farm or other small area might experience very different conditions than the region around it, especially because human influences like irrigation are not included.
This app can also be seen as a useful template for sharing other climate datasets. If you would like to customize it for your own organization, or use it as a starting point for your own scientific application, the source code is available on github for anyone to use.

This layer displays a global map of land use/land cover (LULC) derived from ESA Sentinel-2 imagery at 10m resolution. Each year is generated with Impact Observatory’s deep learning AI land classification model, trained using billions of human-labeled image pixels from the National Geographic Society. The global maps are produced by applying this model to the Sentinel-2 Level-2A image collection on Microsoft’s Planetary Computer, processing over 400,000 Earth observations per year.
The algorithm generates LULC predictions for nine classes, described in detail below.
The year 2017 has a land cover class assigned for every pixel, but its class is based upon fewer images than the other years. The years 2018-2025 are based upon a more complete set of imagery. For this reason, the year 2017 may have less accurate land cover class assignments than the years 2018-2025.

Classification Process
These maps include Version 003 of the global Sentinel-2 land use/land cover data product. It is produced by a deep learning model trained using over five billion hand-labeled Sentinel-2 pixels, sampled from over 20,000 sites distributed across all major biomes of the world.
The underlying deep learning model uses 6-bands of Sentinel-2 L2A surface reflectance data: visible blue, green, red, near infrared, and two shortwave infrared bands. To create the final map, the model is run on multiple dates of imagery throughout the year, and the outputs are composited into a final representative map for each year.
The input Sentinel-2 L2A data was accessed via Microsoft’s Planetary Computer and scaled using Microsoft Azure Batch.

Land cover maps are useful in urban planning, resource management, change detection, agriculture, and a variety of other applications in which information related to earth surface is required. Land cover classification is a complex exercise and is hard to capture using traditional means. Deep learning models are highly capable of learning these complex semantics, giving superior results.
Using the model

Fine-tuning the model
This model can be fine-tuned using the Train Deep Learning Model tool. Follow the guide to fine-tune this model.

Classified raster with the same classes as in Corine Land Cover (CLC) 2018.
Applicable geographies
This model is expected to work well in Europe and the United States.
This model has an overall accuracy of 82.41% with Level-1C imagery and 84.0% with Level-2A imagery, for CLC class level 2 classification (15 classes). The table below summarizes the precision, recall and F1-score of the model on the validation dataset.

Sentinel-2 Level-1C imagery with on-the-fly renderings for visualization. This imagery layer pulls directly from the Sentinel-2 on AWS collection and is updated daily with new imagery.
Sentinel-2 imagery can be applied across a number of industries, scientific disciplines, and management practices. Some applications include, but are not limited to, land cover and environmental monitoring, climate change, deforestation, disaster and emergency management, national security, plant health and precision agriculture, forest monitoring, watershed analysis and runoff predictions, land-use planning, tracking urban expansion, highlighting burned areas and estimating fire severity.

Data is hosted by the Amazon Web Services as part of their Registry of Open Data. NOAA, in coordination with partners Sea Ventures, Force Blue, and PR DNER, performed coral assessment and emergency triage under a mission assignment from FEMA. This engagement with FEMA is unprecedented, as it is the first time NOAA has received a mission assignment from FEMA for recovery support. Based on the assessments, recommended recovery actions have been suggested to the Territory for consideration in their recovery plan. These efforts resulted in approximately 10,000 corals reattached and saved. The data and images within the “Hurricane Coral Reef Assessment and Triage in Puerto Rico" website further describe these efforts.

World Imagery provides one meter or better satellite and aerial imagery in many parts of the world and lower resolution satellite imagery worldwide. The map includes 15m TerraColor imagery at small and mid-scales (~1:591M down to ~1:72k) and 2.5m SPOT Imagery (~1:288k to ~1:72k) for the world. DigitalGlobe sub-meter imagery is featured in many parts of the world, including Africa. Sub-meter Pléiades imagery is available in select urban areas. Additionally, imagery at different resolutions has been contributed by the GIS User Community.

"description": "This map contains a number of world-wide dynamic image services providing\naccess to various Landsat scenes covering the landmass of the World for\nvisual interpretation. Landsat 8 collects new scenes for each location on Earth every 16 days, assuming limited cloud coverage. Newest and near cloud-free scenes are displayed by default on top. Most scenes collected since 1st January 2015 are included. The service also includes scenes from the Global Land Survey* (circa 2010, 2005, 2000, 1990, 1975).
The service contains a range of different predefined renderers for Multispectral, Panchromatic as well as Pansharpened scenes. The layers in the service can be time-enabled\nso that the applications can restrict the displayed scenes to a specific date range.
This ArcGIS Server dynamic service can be used in Web Maps and ArcGIS Desktop, Web and Mobile applications using the REST based image services API. Users can also export images, but the exported area is limited to maximum of 2,000 columns x 2,000 rows per request.
Data Source: The imagery in these services is sourced from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The data for these services reside on the Landsat Public Datasets hosted on the Amazon Web Service cloud. Users can access full scenes from https://github.com/landsat-pds/landsat_ingestor/wiki/Accessing-Landsat-on-AWS, or alternatively access http://landsatlook.usgs.gov to review and download full scenes from the complete USGS archive.

This work is licensed under the Esri Master License Agreement. This map features a multi-resolution terrain layer for elevation displayed using the function for tinted hillshade. Terrain represents ground surface elevation and is based on a digital terrain model (DTM) where the lowest measured elevation values have been favored, and features such as structures and vegetation have been eliminated, leaving the best estimate of where the ground surface would be. Ground surface elevation is also known as bare earth elevation.

This layer provides numeric values representing ground surface heights, based on a digital terrain model (DTM). Heights are orthometric (sea level = 0), and water bodies that are above sea level have approximated nominal water heights. In order to most effectively work with this service in ArcGIS Desktop, you will need to use the exact resolutions given above as the cell size geoprocessing environment setting.

It is also possible to toggle between depth layers using raster functions, accessed through the Image Display tab.
